Really, east village? After all of this time? We don’t even know where to go anymore. Unexpectedly lovely night, really. And I think the New Years plans have been firmed up, so I can stop (unnecessarily) stressing out over that. Also, let me just note that the Hummus Place was playing some weird music tonight. As for me: I was quietly singing “Take Care” to myself.
-No more Wilson Chandler, so David Lee doesn’t have to revisit those memories of The Time He Got Bitten.
-I really like the retro quality of the Golden State logo. It’s like that time I wanted to buy an old school Bears hat.
-I’m still giving the side-eye to MSG’s use of “Let’s Get It On” in their commercials.
-Clyde Frazier’s suits!!
-Basketball!!
So… I like the name “Thorin”… a lot. It won’t be the name of a future son or anything, but I felt like sharing.
As it turns out, I really remember nothing about The Hobbit from when I was 11, except for Bilbo, Smaug, and Gollum. A little while after I finished reading the book, I found a gold ring in a jewelry box that belonged to a great-aunt. I decided that it was My Precious.

-Matthew/Mary are giving me Ben/Leslie feelings. All of the emotions! All of them! I still think that snow was unnecessary and fake-looking, though.
-Oh, irony: I’ve never stayed more than an extra hour at work, but at this TEMP job, I’m working more overtime than I ever have. Oh, how I wish they could hire me!
-Listening to that Marina & the Diamonds album for the first time in a while. Still love it.
-Officially on the dark chocolate bandwagon.
-New Years plans have taken a turn. Perhaps it’ll all turn out okay, but I’m bummed that my friend from OH isn’t staying for longer.

A very lazy Christmas eve. Lions clinch! Giants win! My grandmother would have been 100 today. We were *so* sure she was going to make it. Headache, congestion, Patty Griffin. I like being low-key.

-I have such year-end-list fatigue. I always say that I’m going to go back through these lists and make notes about what I want to check out later, but I never do it. This year, I’m not even gonna try.
-listening to “Infinity on High” and enjoying the heck out of it
-how come I don’t remember all of these dwarves in The Hobbit? Granted, I read it when I was 11, but wouldn’t one remember all of these dwarves? Or at least Thoren? My mom doesn’t remember the dwarves, either. That re-read I’ve been wanting to do is now more relevant than ever. Must not picture Martin Freeman as Bilbo, though!
One of the guys in my office (the one who reminds me of a guy I used to have a little crush on!) refers to Siri as “the chick on the phone.”
I adore this office, and I’m so sad that there’s no future for me in it. Hopefully, my next step will make itself clear to me sooner rather than later.
I usually don’t link songs to people, but today is the birthday of someone who I have conflicting feelings about, and in that case, there is the modern dilemma of what to write on the old facebook wall. I was thinking about what I *could* write, but there are too many worries about how some of those things could be construed. (Note: I tend to give guys way too much credit in terms of how much thought they give to trivial matters) So what pops into my head? “There are many things that I would like to say to you, but I don’t know how.” And it’s true! There was a time when I dreamed of us falling in love and running all over the city, going to random shows. I wanted a Nick & Norah thing before I even knew that that existed. Part of that wish came true, oddly enough, and I’m kind of happy that the other part didn’t. And I think, really, that I will save myself a headache and just send along birthday wishes via gchat.
I have reached the point where I cannot read the words “Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” and not get Fountains of Wayne’s “Red Dragon Tattoo” stuck in my head.

[Darlene Love - Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)]
Just in case you all don’t know this (I know Brad does). Darlene Love’s Voice/it’s what Fallon spoofed in the monologue last night/I don’t care what you celebrate; I think it’s pretty infectious/jubilant/etc.
I have 2 observations. I went to Church nearly every Sunday for a good 13 or 15 years (we stopped being so “religious” about it after my confirmation). I’ve gone to this Church 5 times now, in the past couple of months, and here’s what I find odd:
-PDA. In Church! Like, couples with their arms around each other. There was a couple in front of me tonight, and she was busy playing with his hair. And then they didn’t even go up for Communion! I just haven’t seen that before. I guess it’s good that they’re there, but keep your hands off of each other for an hour, hmm?
-little kids under a year old at the 8:30pm mass! What’s the deal with that?
Well, good. Thanks, SNL, for acknowledging that Matt Prater’s kicked some prit-tee long field goals lately. No 22 yard chip shots, no sir.
So far, it’s pretty delightful, although I haven’t watched anything with a laugh track in a while, and it’s kind of jarring.
Having a hard time waking up this afternoon. Looks cold and gray out. Headache. That “I’ve been rolled down the stairs” feeling. Lazy Saturday, indeed. I was supposed to trot over to Verizon and have them look at my phone, but idk if that’s going to happen at this point. It’ll be one of those days where I don’t start getting anything done until 6pm.
-this weekend is week 15 of the NFL season. freakin’ flew by, as usual. at least there’s basketball to look forward to, and the accompanying “Oh, Knicks.” I have considered trying to get into hockey, but I don’t know if it’ll take.
-my parents are having company this weekend, so they had to decorate the tree without me. I feel slighted.
-my mother sent me a little tree/wreath for the apartment, and that’s lovely, and I definitely feel more festive.
-slammed my face into one of the revolving doors at work today. it wouldn’t have hurt so much if the inside of my nose wasn’t all messed up. Still: what a chump. Who walks into a revolving door?
-I would like to enable facebook’s timeline feature, because ohmygod do I want to see my posts from ‘03, but it seems rather complicated, and screw you, facebook: I don’t want to have to choose a “cover” picture
